UPP, a provider of on-campus student accommodation, has appointed Bouygues UK lead contractor for the West Park development at the University of Exeter, following financial close.

The West Park development includes the construction of six new student accommodation blocks and the refurbishment of one existing block on the university’s Streatham campus.  It will provide accommodation for 1,849 students.

The buildings are designed by Willmore Iles Architects and Architype to Passivhaus standards for energy efficiency.

UPP chief executive Elaine Hewitt said, “We are delighted to reach financial close on this major project and to be working with Bouygues UK on the delivery of such an innovative scheme.”

The first tranche of students is expected to arrive in the new accommodation in September 2027, with full occupation in 2028. The project is scheduled for completion over a three-year period.
