Esh Construction and Octavius Infrastructure are among eight contractors to have secured places on the second iteration of procurement agency YORhub’s YORcivil major works framework.

Also new on the framework as it moves into its second iteration are Bam Nuttall and Jackson Civil Engineering.

Staying on for a second term are Aureos Infrastructure Services, Galliford Try Infrastructure, John Graham Construction and John Sisk & Son.

The four companies dropping off the list are Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering, Morgan Sindall, Tarmac Farrans JV and Tilbury Douglas.

With an estimated potential value of £250m a year, the framework is designed for the procurement of public sector civil engineering projects worth more than £10m. Schemes expected to be procured through the framework agreement will include construction works, civil engineering, bridge and structure works, highway surfacing, coastal protection, flood alleviation and associated design services.

The YORcivil Major Works 2 contractor framework covers 21 local authorities spanning from North Yorkshire down to Derbyshire. It runs until November 2029 and includes the option to extend for another two years.

For Octavius Infrastructure (formerly Osborne Infrastructure), the appointment represents further geographic growth from its south of England heartland since its separation from the Osborne Group in 2021, growing annual turnover from £131m to £323m.

Octavius frameworks manager Jarrod Parkin said: “Octavius has grown into a national business, this win reinforces that. We are now delivering transport infrastructure from Cornwall to Northumberland. In northern England YORcivil Major Works 2 joins YORcivil3, NEPO, Manchester Highways, Peel Ports and National Highways’ Scheme Delivery North East and North West, and Regional Delivery Partnership on our portfolio of highways frameworks.”

County Durham-based Esh Construction also has growth plans and is already on hte regular YORcivil3 framework. Business development director Ross Markwell said: “Securing a place on the YORcivil Major Works framework marks a key milestone in Esh’s strategic growth plans and reflects the quality, value and social impact we consistently deliver.

“We have a proven capability in delivering complex, capital projects – with over £100m in major schemes currently underway across the northeast – and we are poised to bring our expertise to investment programmes within the Yorkshire region. We’re looking forward to building on our existing relationships while forging new local authority partnerships through the framework appointment.”
