He has spent the last 15 years leading an engineering service provider to the food industry.
As its name suggests, Clegg Food Projects specialises in building food and drink manufacturing, warehousing and distribution facilities, including bakeries, breweries and dairies. Clients Greggs, 2 Sisters Food Group, Coca-Cola Enterprises, Heineken, Molson Coors, Alpro and Samworth Brothers.
“Clegg Food Projects has developed an outstanding reputation in the industry and I want to build on that strong foundation,” Carr said. “It’s important that we keep the DNA of the business as it continues to evolve.”
Carr initially entered the industry following management and project roles with Saint-Gobain, B&Q and Aldi. He joined Integrated Food Projects (IFP) as sales manager, quickly becoming a director and ultimately managing director, overseeing growth from six to 120 employees and delivering projects up to £200m in capital value.

In 2020, IFP was acquired by NIRAS, the engineering consultancy, with Carr being appointed vice president for its UK food and beverage businesses. He oversaw the acquisition and integration of further food consultancy businesses. He was appointed UK country director in 2024 to lead NIRAS’ group of businesses in the UK.
“It was the most significant chapter in my career to date, working on some fantastic client projects and acquisitions and leading 300 talented colleagues,” he said. “I thoroughly enjoyed it.”
Carr will take over as managing director at Clegg Food Projects from Stephen Giltrap, who has been with the company for more than 25 years and will continue in his role as a director of Clegg Group, providing continuity and support to the team.
Giltrap said of his successor: “His strategic insight and deep experience of scaling and running major operations will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our place in the sector.”
