He succeeds Hector MacAulay who has worked at Balfour Beatty for four decades and been managing director of Balfour Beatty’s UK Construction Services Regional Scotland business for the past 10 years. MacAulay will continue in a consultancy until he retires at the end of the year.
Nick Rowan joined Balfour Beatty 30 years ago as a graduate surveyor. He spent the first two decades of his career in operational commercial roles, and the last 10 years as director for new business in Scotland. He was involved in securing the A9 dualling scheme and the accelerated strategic transmission investment offshore programme of works for SSEN Transmission.

Nick Crossfield, divisional chief executive of Balfour Beatty UK Construction Services, said: “Nick has a long and deep understanding of Balfour Beatty, having started his career with us as a graduate three decades ago.
“There is a significant pipeline of work ahead in Scotland requiring close collaboration across teams. Nick is ideally placed to lead this growth, sustain our success and build on Hector’s legacy. His appointment is also testament to the long and rewarding careers available in the construction and infrastructure industry, where talent and dedication is recognised and nurtured.”
Nick Rowan said: “I look forward to continuing to work alongside the incredibly talented team, remaining focused on delivering best-in-class, sustainable construction solutions for our customers. I would also like to thank Hector for his leadership over many years – he leaves our regional Scotland business in excellent health and with clear direction.”
