He replaces Alan Dunsmore who “agreed to step down by mutual consent” in March after Severfield issued a second profits warning in five months.
McNerney’s appointment was announced in August but his start date had yet to be fixe at that time.
Most recently, McNerney was director, clients and government at Laing O’Rourke and has previously been managing director of the UK construction business, Select Plant Hire, Explore Manufacturing and Crown House Technologies.
